As artists, we all know how terrifying it can be to put yourself out there and promote your work, however, that's part of the job description if you want to make it in this industry. So when I joined forces with an art pal and decided to have an art stall together, fear instantly kicked in. But we all know that sometimes you have to put yourself in uncomfortable positions to make things happen in life.
Standing in as many layers as we could put on in the morning, we stood out in the winter weather putting on our biggest smiles to everyone passing by. Although we were in the centre of town and we had a lot of foot traffic, it's hard to know what sort of people are going to be passing by. I think it's always a learning curve when dealing with the public, and looking back I would definitely create artwork that I think would sell well in the area that I'm in, and having the support of friends and family members also goes a long way. So although I was a nervous wreck leading up to my first market, looking back it was definitely a great experience and worth doing to learn more about how to make the most of having a market!
